Raise your expectations.
Booking a photo session shouldn’t just be showing up, meeting and paying the photographer, getting your photos taken, and waiting for a cd or usb drive. You’re paying for a service, you’re investing your hard-earned money into an experience that should 1) leave you feeling valued and 2) leave you with tangible items to share and pass down through the generations.
I do things differently. I’m not telling you this so you’ll hire me (although I’d love to work with you), but I want you to be aware of what you should expect throughout your session with me.
1) Pre-Session Consultation
Your pre-session consultation gives us a little time to get to know each other, i get to learn a little about your family and about your vision for your session, and how you plan to view the images - right now and in the future. I’ll share my style guide that shows different print options and you can touch and view paper samples as well as sample products. We discuss wardrobe ideas and colors and locations. I encourage you to create an Inspiration board on Pinterest. This consultation is usually over a quick cup of coffee and can last 15min to hours on end, lol. If you’re too busy to meet, we can do this over a phone call as well!
2) Your Session
I love to incorporate both posed and lifestyle images into your gallery. What does this mean? I’ll start your session by placing your family into a pose and get that photo, because you know Grandma will want that posed photo!. I’ll then lead you with some directions that will set up natural interactions among each other. You’ll be having fun with each other and not focusing on me. I love to visit as many spots as we can at your location, so we’ll do this a few times. I’ll capture different groupings, such as mom with children, dad with children, couple, each child, posed and natural. I encourage you to bring any props, such as a favorite picnic quilt or a little one’s special ‘lovey’. When you leave the session, I want all of you talking about the session and the fun you had!
3) Post-Session
During this time-frame, I’m going through each image taken and determining if it meets my standards of what I present to clients. I may take a hundred (or two) photos during your session, but you’ll only see the best of the best in your gallery. Each chosen image is hand-edited. I’m also preparing your online viewing gallery to present to you.
4) The Big Reveal
Just as I offer during the pre-session consultation, the reveal can be done together or not, over coffee (or wine), or you can view it online in the comfort of your own home. I prefer the former, because I love seeing client’s faces when they see their images for the first time. It makes my heart go ‘yes!’, they love them!’ I’m passionate about moms seeing beyond the daily chaos, that their families are truly beautiful and precious. This is also another opportunity for you to ask questions about collections and products.
5) Ordering
Your online gallery will be available for one week. I am available to you to answer any questions you have about the ordering process. Print products are delivered 2-4 weeks after the ordering date. DigitaL downloads are sent to you, almost immediately after purchase, in an email. You’ll have one week to download, before the link expires.
It’s my purpose to service my clients from beginning to end. My clients invest in their photography sessions and in me. It’s my job to fulfill my clients' visions for their sessions and present them with images that are beyond their expectations! If this doesn’t describe your experience with photography sessions, you need to change who you’re working with. I’d love it if you chose me!
